Summer is in full swing hear in Missouri. Its been a cooler summer than normal but still plenty hot. I have been seeing commercials for the Multi-Cool for a couple months now and always wondered if they really worked. This past week I got to try it out first hand. Mission EnduraCool gave me the opportunity to try out a couple of there products. I received a Multi-cool, a Cooling mesh towel, a cooling towel, a cooling bandanna, and a cooling cap to try out. Prices range from about $14.99 to about $43.99, and come in various colors. You can find everything HERE at the Mission Enduracool website.
These things are super easy to use even my 4 year old can do it. Here is how the company says it works: the "patented technology, powered by Coolcore works by absorbing moisture and perspiration into the fabric core where the unique radiator-like fiber construction circulates water molecules and regulates the rate of evaporation to create a prolonged cooling effect". Key features are: Patented technology cools 30 degrees below average body temperature when wet. UPF 50 protection from the sun, Chemical-free, when wet stays cool for hours, when dry soft and absorbent, and its reusable and machine washable. Basically you get the Item wet snap it by pulling both ends away from each other to activate the cooling properties and it gets cool. It also absorbs your sweat and uses it to cool you down.
I tested out cooling mesh towel first while the kids were out riding bikes in the yard. On the day I first tested the towel the temperature was about 95. I got it wet wrung it out and snapped it. I wrapped it around my shoulders and sat in the sun to see if I would start baking. I was surprised to find that it really did have a cooling effect even more so when there was air blowing on it. Like on a breezy day or while I was riding my bike. I was able to sit in the direct sun for about an hour before it started to dry out and loose its cooling effect. I had to re wet it and snap it again and it began cooling all over again. It would be great to lay over a infant seat or stroller to shade baby as there products do provide UV protection.
I do want to point out that it doesn't get ice cold or even refrigerator cold. It did cool me off and was noticeably cooler than my body temperature and the temperature of the area I was sitting in.
I took the cooling cap out for a test drive last weekend while I was cutting wood. Temperature was in the 90's and I was in the sun. It was also great and it helped me stay cooler while we were cutting. My only complaint is that it was a white hat and it was grimy after about 20 min. But wood cutting is dirty business. I haven't washed it yet so I don't know how it will wash up but I think it will come clean.
Both of the girls and my mom have tried out the multi-cool and cooling towel. They all report that it does feel cool when they put it on. They actually argue over who gets to wear it they like to wear which one. Personally I like wearing the multi-cool as a headband. The company actually makes a head band that I would love love to have. It would be wonderful for cutting wood in the summer. It would also be perfect when I am working out, both out side and in the gym. Over all the product works well for me and I would buy any of the Mission Cooling products. They offer so many great colors and even some great patterns that I can see my self getting one of each color just to match my gym gear.
